The Victory Day long ago became one of the most honoured, touching and emotional Russian holidays. The 9th of May marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union and the end of the Great Patriotic War. The majority of former USSR countries keep celebrating the Victory Day as a national holiday. Traditionally on the 9th of May ceremonial military parades are held in the majority of cities, the most large-scale is the one in Moscow on the Red Square. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War usually participate in the most of parades. Often they go together with their grandchildren what symbolizes the force of the nation and the strong connection between generations. This day Russian people especially strongly feel the pride for the history of their motherland and trust that they can force all the troubles.
